Our aim is to promote, offer, support and deliver high quality services to carers and people with care needs.
The Barnsley Scheme was established in 1993 and provides support to carers and people they care for, living within the Barnsley Borough.
Most of our work takes place in the homes of the people we care for. Carers of all ages need support for many reasons, including, a few hours to unwind, persue a hobby, visit family and friends, complete homework, go on holiday, have a good nights sleep or to carry on working.
To meet these needs, a dedicated Board of Trustees, management team and trained Carer Support Workers provide a 7 day a week, 365 days a year, 24 hour service to people of all ages and disability which includes:
Physical Disability and Sensory Impairment
Adult Learning Disability and Mental Health problems
Children with Physical and Learning Disabilities
Palliative care
Continuing Care
Our staff will provide support from as little as 1 hour, to 24 hours a day for short holidays and comprises of a range of tasks including personal care, specialised tasks, meal preparation and feeding, shopping, escorting, sitting service, over night stays and social outings.
All staff have to have a Criminal Records Bureau check and 2 satisfactory references before commencing employment.
TRAINING
All our staff are trained and deliver a flexible person centred approach which is tailored to changing individual needs.

Health and Safety
Food Hygiene
Protection of Vulnerable Adults
Child Protection
Safe Handling of Medicines
Understanding Dementia
Principles of Care
Specialised tasks (relevant to individual need)
NVQ Level 2 in Direct Care (minimum)
QUALITY
We continually strive to deliver services of high quality and are monitored against Crossroads own Quality evaluation standards and the Care Quality Commission, (the new regulator for health, social care and mental healthcare).In August 2009 we achieved re-recognition as an Investors in People employer.
