The Princess Royal Trust for Carers
As two of the UK’s leading organisations working with and for carers we strive to enable carers to have a life outside their caring role and we share a vision for society where:
* the role of carers and the contribution they make to our communities are fully acknowledged, understood and valued
* carers are able to make informed choices about their caring role and the services that support them and the person they care for
* carers, no matter where they live, have access to a more comprehensive and consistent range of service provision.
This shared vision has formed the basis of an agreement endorsed by the Boards of Trustees of both organisations to continue to explore the benefits of further collaborative working. Both Boards believe that by working together we can:
* achieve a stronger voice in the interests of carers and local organisations providing services that support them
* influence the development of a more comprehensive and cohesive approach to service provision for carers
* improve information, briefings and support for the members of both networks
* share our expertise and knowledge for the benefit of both staff and the networks.
It was therefore very positive to know that our joint bid to the Department of Health, which looked at Comprehensive Support Services for Carers, was successful. Helen Dorr has joined Crossroads Care as project manager working across both networks to take this initiative forward.
