Swansea Neath Port Talbot Crossroads
Caring for Carers

Allowing them 'time to be themselves'.

A carer is someone who looks after a relative or a child, a partner or a friend, who needs their help because they are ill, frail or have a disability.

If you are a carer, or if you know someone in this situation, then we may be able to help.

Swansea Neath Port Talbot Crossroads offers high quality, flexible respite to Carers of all ages allowing them 'time to be themselves'.

We provide a flexible service that can deliver the following support to the cared for person when it is most needed, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to relieve the Carer:
  1. General support.
  2. Outings/ social activites / appointments.
  3. Personal care - bathing, dressing etc.
  4. Shopping
  5. Light meal preparation and feeding.
  6. A sitting service 1-24 hours.
  7. Administering certain medication in appropriate circumstances, subject to proper risk assessment and training - full details available on request.
  8. Certain delegated nursing tasks, strictly in accordance with our policies and procedures and following specific professional training.
  9. Palliative care and care for the terminally ill.
  10. Bereavement counselling, subject to specific funding.

We also have a Young Carers Project and a Weekend Day Centre (Neath Port Talbot)

The Young Carers Project

Our vibrant Young Carers Project provides respite and support to Carers between the ages of 8 and 18 years. Services include information, support, respite, social activities, a youth club and counselling.

Our Weekend Day Centre is highly succesful and lively. Established in 1999, it provides weekend day care for people living in Neath Port Talbot 52 weeks a year to bring reasonable blocks of respite to their carers.

We work in conjunction with
  1. The Parkinsons Disease Society, Swansea Branch.
  2. Swansea Palliative Intermediate Care Team S.P.I.C.E. - providing palliative care support.
  3. The Local Health Boards of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
  4. City and County of Swansea Social Services.
  5. Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council Social Services.

Services are also available privately on a not for profit fee paying basis - prices are available on request.

Swansea Neath Port Talbot Crossroads is accredited by the social servcies department of City and County of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. We are also registered  with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate, Wales,  in accordance with Care Standards Act 2000.

The carer support workers employed by Swansea Neath Port Talbot Crossroads are carefully recruited. All staff are subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure. They take part in a thorough induction process and are fully trained - meeting all regulatory and professional requirements.
